After 50, It’s About Face Strength — Not Perfection

A deeply personal conversation about aging, nervous system tension, embodiment, self-image, and why midlife isn’t about chasing perfection — but learning to inhabit yourself more fully.

There’s a moment in midlife when you stop looking at your face casually.

Not because you suddenly become vain.
But because something shifts.

You notice tension you’ve been carrying for decades.
You notice exhaustion.
Collapse.
Asymmetry.
Holding patterns.

And if you’re honest, you realise it isn’t only age you’re looking at.

It’s accumulated life.

I’ve been thinking about this deeply lately after recording a very personal conversation about my own face, my childhood accident, facial surgeries, nervous system tension, and what happens after 50 when the structures underneath the skin begin changing.

But what surprised me most wasn’t the physical side of it.

It was the emotional side.

Because so many women spend years disconnected from their bodies while simultaneously criticising them.

We brace.
We hold.
We tighten.
We over-perform.
We live in stress responses for decades — and eventually the body reflects it.

I don’t think women age badly because they get older.

I think many women age under the weight of accumulated vigilance.

And there’s a difference.

Lately, I’ve become much more interested in participation than perfection.

Strength instead of paralysis.
Engagement instead of shame.
Posture instead of punishment.
Presence instead of comparison.

Not trying to become younger.

Trying to become more fully inhabiting of myself.

That changes how you carry your face.
Your body.
Your energy.
Your life.

And honestly?
I think women can become more beautiful in midlife — not because they erase age, but because they become more integrated.

More themselves.
